Race formats

Our road races are run with the following formats:
 - Criterium: A short circuit that is closed to all traffic. The race is timed, plus a number of laps (eg 60 minutes, plus 2 laps).

- Kermesse: Generally take place on longer courses (ie 5km plus), or the course may have restricted traffic on it. As per a criterium the race is timed, plus a number of laps.

- Road Race: Taken place on the open road, where the road is open to normal traffic. All normal road rules apply while racing - and you can be disqualified for not obeying them. Road races are raced over a set distance.

Grades

LACC races are split into grades. Grades are grouped by speed and ability. Grades generally range from A through to E. Competing in the correct grade makes the race more enjoyable for both yourself and your competitors. Please see the Grading page to working out your grade!

The Ashfield Cycles - Tour of August (ToA) is LACC's premier road event. This event is run over 5 stages each year in August. The stages generally incorporate a number of road races, kermesses and a hill climb.
